About the role

A consumer insights intern supports surveys, interviews, analysis and the summaries used by brand and commercial teams. The panel wants careful research thinking, neutral listening and an ability to turn mixed consumer evidence into a clear but appropriately cautious business implication.

How to prepare

  1. Review the difference between qualitative and quantitative research and when each is useful.
  2. Practise rewriting leading survey questions in neutral language.
  3. Prepare an academic or personal research example and explain your method, finding and limitation.
  4. Take a small set of consumer comments and practise grouping them into themes.
  5. Think about how price, pack size, shopping location and household context can shape FMCG choices.

Common mistakes

  • Treating a small or convenient sample as representative of every consumer.
  • Asking questions that reveal the answer you hope to hear.
  • Listing findings without explaining what decision they could inform.
