About the role
This interview tests leadership of electrical maintenance in a hazardous process environment. The panel wants evidence that you can protect people during electrical work, maintain resilient power systems, restore faults in a controlled sequence and lead staff and contractors to consistent technical standards.
How to prepare
- Review maintenance approaches for switchgear, transformers, generators, motors, protection and earthing systems.
- Prepare a detailed example of diagnosing a significant electrical fault or power interruption.
- Rehearse switching, isolation, proving dead and safe restoration principles.
- Think through how you establish work readiness and electrical scope for a plant shutdown.
- Prepare an example of correcting unsafe or undocumented technical practice.
Common mistakes
- Treating isolation as complete before the work party has verified the safe condition.
- Restoring supply quickly without checking protection operation and process readiness.
- Listing maintenance tasks without relating them to criticality, condition and failure risk.
- Allowing temporary repairs or undocumented changes to become permanent by default.
