About the role
This interview tests how you lead close protection assignments from advance work to movement and emergency response. The panel is looking for calm judgement, clear team command and plans that adapt when routes, venues or threat information change. They also expect discretion and a service mindset that does not weaken protective boundaries.
How to prepare
- Prepare an advance planning example that covers routes, venues, communications, transport and contingency actions.
- Review how you assess uncertain threat information and communicate proportionate changes to a principal.
- Practise giving a short team briefing with roles, triggers and fallback arrangements.
- Think through medical, vehicle, crowd and communications failures during a movement.
- Prepare an example of protecting confidentiality when a colleague or client contact pressed for information.
Common mistakes
- Using dramatic tactics where quiet, proportionate action would control the risk.
- Giving a route plan without communications, medical or fallback arrangements.
- Ignoring the safety of bystanders, drivers, venue staff or other team members.
- Confusing client service with agreeing to unsafe or poorly assessed requests.
