About the role
This interview tests how you plan fashion ranges and manage stock through a trading period. The panel is looking for numerical control, product judgement and decisive action on availability, margin and slow stock. They also want to see how you align teams when the data and opinions point in different directions.
How to prepare
- Review how you build a range plan by category, price point, channel and size mix.
- Prepare a trading decision you made from sales, stock and margin information.
- Think through how you diagnose poor availability and excess stock across locations.
- Prepare an example of influencing buying, retail or marketing when views differed.
- Be ready to explain your spreadsheet checks and reporting controls.
Common mistakes
- Discussing sales without considering margin, stock cover or availability.
- Using markdown as the first response before diagnosing the trading problem.
- Presenting spreadsheet outputs without checking data definitions and exceptions.
- Relying on trends without explaining the target customer or evidence of demand.
