About the role
A game producer helps a multidisciplinary team turn a game vision into playable, tested releases. The panel is looking for practical planning, honest risk management and good judgement about scope, dependencies and the player experience.
How to prepare
- Break a game feature into design, art, engineering, audio and testing dependencies.
- Prepare an example of cutting or changing scope while protecting the core player experience.
- Review how you use a backlog and production board to expose risk rather than just record tasks.
- Think through how you would run milestone reviews and turn playtest findings into decisions.
- Prepare an example of resolving a dependency between two development disciplines.
Common mistakes
- Treating task completion as proof that the game experience works.
- Keeping the original scope after evidence shows it is no longer realistic.
- Using production tools as a substitute for direct communication.
- Waiting until a milestone review to raise known risks.
