About the role
This interview explores how you observe, integrate and communicate geological evidence in an upstream setting. The panel is looking for careful map and data handling, a defensible interpretation, awareness of alternatives and the humility to mark uncertainty instead of hiding it.
How to prepare
- Review structural geology, stratigraphy, sedimentology and the basic purpose of common well logs.
- Practise describing evidence first and giving your interpretation second.
- Revisit coordinate systems, depth references, map scales and routine GIS quality checks.
- Choose a field, mapping or research project where your interpretation developed as evidence changed.
- Practise presenting a map with clear units, legend, scale and uncertainty.
Common mistakes
- Presenting an interpretation as a fact when the evidence is incomplete.
- Combining datasets without checking coordinates, datum, depth reference or units.
- Showing a complicated map without a readable legend, scale or explanation.
