About the award
A graduate leadership programme interview selects recent graduates for a fast-track scheme that rotates them through different parts of an organisation. The panel looks for leadership potential, how you solve problems, your drive and resilience, how you work in teams and how clearly you communicate.
How to prepare
- Prepare four or five short stories from school, NYSC, work or volunteering that show leadership and teamwork.
- Use a simple structure for each story: the situation, what you did and the result.
- Read about the organisation's business, recent news and the rotations the programme offers.
- Think of a time you kept going after a setback and what you learned from it.
- Practise working through a problem step by step, saying your reasoning as you go.
Common mistakes
- Using the same group project story for every answer.
- Saying 'we' throughout so the panel cannot see your own contribution.
- Knowing little about the organisation beyond its name and logo.
