About the role
This interview focuses on safe, controlled operation of heavy mobile equipment in a mine. The panel is assessing your inspection routine, response to changing ground and machine condition, understanding of productive operation and ability to communicate during a busy shift.
How to prepare
- Revise a complete walk-around and cab check for the equipment you have operated.
- Prepare examples of defects that require stopping, isolating or reporting a machine.
- Review safe travel, loading, parking and separation around people and other equipment.
- Practise concise radio calls for hazards, location updates and movement requests.
- Think through how rain, dust, darkness and poor road conditions change your operation.
Common mistakes
- Rushing the pre-start inspection because the machine worked on the previous shift.
- Continuing after a warning or defect without following the reporting and isolation process.
- Describing speed as productivity while ignoring stability, road condition and machine limits.
