About the award
An innovation award interview lets judges examine a new product, process or idea before choosing a winner. They look at how original it is, what difference it makes to people, evidence that it actually works and whether it can grow beyond its current users or location.
How to prepare
- Explain in one sentence what is new about your innovation compared with what already exists.
- Gather proof that it works, such as test results, user feedback or before and after comparisons.
- Prepare a clear plan for scaling and the main obstacles you will face.
- Practise a short demo that still works if the internet or power drops.
Common mistakes
- Claiming originality without knowing the similar solutions already out there.
- Describing what the innovation could do instead of what it has done.
- Relying on a live demo with no backup if it fails.
