About the role
This interview tests how you support policyholders before, during and after a claim. The panel wants to hear clear explanations, careful handling of customer information and calm responses when a customer is upset. They also look for accurate records and sensible escalation rather than promises you cannot keep.
How to prepare
- Learn the basic stages of buying a policy, making a claim and receiving a decision.
- Practise explaining common insurance terms in language a first-time customer would understand.
- Prepare an example of calming a dissatisfied customer and agreeing a practical next step.
- Review how you would verify a caller and record a contact in a CRM.
- Think through how you would prioritise an urgent claim update against a busy enquiry queue.
Common mistakes
- Promising that a claim will be paid before the claims team has made a decision.
- Using policy jargon without checking that the customer understands it.
- Discussing personal information before completing the required verification.
- Passing a complaint on without recording what has already happened.
