About the role
This interview covers the design and support of integrations between a SaaS product and customer systems. The panel is looking for sound API knowledge, careful treatment of data and failures, and clear communication when technical constraints affect a customer's workflow.
How to prepare
- Review authentication methods, webhooks, pagination, rate limits and idempotency.
- Prepare an integration example that explains the systems, data flow, failure handling and your contribution.
- Practise diagnosing a problem that could sit in either your service or a partner system.
- Think through how you validate mappings before moving customer data into production.
Common mistakes
- Describing the happy path without retries, duplicate prevention or monitoring.
- Blaming a partner system before showing how you isolated the fault.
- Using technical language without connecting it to the customer's workflow.
