About the role
This is a senior architecture interview for the carrier IP network that supports telecoms services. The panel will test your protocol choices, failure thinking, security judgement and ability to move live traffic safely from an existing design to a supportable target architecture.
How to prepare
- Revise routing policy, service separation, traffic engineering, convergence and high-availability design.
- Prepare an architecture decision where several technically valid options had different operational trade-offs.
- Think through failure scenarios at device, link, site and control-plane level.
- Review how you validate a target design in the laboratory and during a controlled production migration.
- Practise explaining a complex routing decision without depending on vendor terminology.
Common mistakes
- Naming protocols without explaining why they fit the scale and service model.
- Claiming resilience without walking through specific failure and convergence scenarios.
- Producing an elegant target design that operations cannot monitor or support.
