About the role

This interview tests how you use data to understand an e-commerce product and support decisions about the shopping journey. The panel wants careful metric definitions, logical investigation, workable SQL thinking and recommendations that acknowledge uncertainty.

How to prepare

  1. Map the shopping funnel from product discovery through payment, fulfilment, return and repeat purchase.
  2. Practise defining product measures precisely, including the event, user group and time window involved.
  3. Review joins, grouping, date filters and checks for duplicates or missing values in SQL.
  4. Prepare an analysis where the first result changed after you checked a segment or data quality issue.
  5. Practise turning a chart or query result into one recommendation and one sensible next test.

Common mistakes

  • Naming many measures without explaining which decision each one supports.
  • Assuming a product change caused a movement without checking timing, segments and other explanations.
  • Describing SQL syntax without clarifying the grain of the tables or handling duplicates.
  • Presenting a precise recommendation while hiding weak data or uncertainty.
