About the role
This interview focuses on product decisions in a two-sided marketplace, where improvements for buyers can create costs or poor incentives for sellers. The panel is assessing your discovery judgement, prioritisation, analytical depth and ability to lead teams through commercially important trade-offs.
How to prepare
- Map the buyer and seller journeys and identify where their needs support or conflict with each other.
- Prepare a product case study that shows discovery evidence, rejected options and measurable outcomes.
- Review marketplace concepts such as selection quality, liquidity, trust and seller incentives.
- Practise explaining a roadmap choice using customer value, commercial impact, risk and delivery effort.
- Choose an experiment and explain its primary metric, guardrails and decision rule.
Common mistakes
- Treating the buyer journey as the whole marketplace.
- Jumping from a stakeholder request to a feature without validating the problem.
- Using a long feature list in place of a product strategy.
- Claiming success from conversion alone while ignoring fulfilment, refunds or seller effects.
