About the role
A machine learning engineer takes models out of notebooks and into products that real users depend on. At senior level you design training and serving pipelines, monitor models for drift, control costs and build features on large language models with proper evaluation and safeguards. The panel is deciding whether you can ship ML that is reliable, measurable and worth what it costs to run.
How to prepare
- Prepare one system you put into production and explain the path from data to serving and monitoring.
- Be ready to describe how you evaluate an LLM feature, including how you catch wrong or harmful outputs.
- Revise model monitoring: drift, data quality checks and when you retrain or roll back.
- Have a cost example ready, such as how you cut inference cost or latency without hurting quality.
- Think about how you work with product and data teams to decide whether ML is the right tool at all.
Common mistakes
- Talking about model accuracy and never about latency, cost or monitoring in production.
- Treating LLM outputs as reliable without a clear evaluation method.
- Overselling a past project's impact with figures you cannot explain.
