About the role
This interview tests how you inspect marine cargo, verify quantities and preserve evidence when different parties may dispute the outcome. The panel is looking for careful observation, reliable calculations, impartial judgement and reports that can withstand scrutiny. Good answers explain your sequence of checks and the limits of any conclusion.
How to prepare
- Revise the inspection sequence for cargo condition, hold or tank condition and handling operations.
- Practise explaining the checks behind a draft survey or another quantity verification method you use.
- Prepare an example where your evidence changed or qualified an initial view of a loss.
- Review how you label samples, maintain traceability and record who attended each stage.
- Choose a survey report you can discuss without revealing confidential client information.
Common mistakes
- Giving a cause of damage before gathering enough evidence.
- Reporting a calculated quantity without stating assumptions or measurement limitations.
- Letting one interested party direct the scope or wording of an independent survey.
- Using vague notes that do not show locations, times or observed conditions.
