About the role
A media buying manager turns an approved plan into well-priced, properly delivered media placements. The panel will look for disciplined negotiation, accurate budget control, confidence with performance data and the judgement to challenge poor inventory or disputed supplier delivery.
How to prepare
- Prepare a negotiation example that explains your objectives, concessions and final decision.
- Review how you reconcile booked, billed and delivered media across suppliers.
- Think through your checks for digital traffic quality, placement suitability and brand safety.
- Prepare an example of reallocating spend after delivery or performance changed.
- Practise explaining a supplier dispute without revealing confidential rates.
Common mistakes
- Defining value only as the lowest unit price.
- Waiting until the campaign ends to identify underdelivery or overspend.
- Accepting supplier reports without independent checks.
- Discussing confidential client rates or supplier terms in detail.
