About the role
A performance marketing lead owns paid acquisition strategy, measurement, testing and budget decisions across channels. The panel wants to see commercial judgement, a firm grasp of attribution and channel economics, and evidence that you can improve creative work and customer journeys while leading specialists.
How to prepare
- Prepare a campaign example that connects channel decisions to revenue or another meaningful commercial outcome.
- Review how you judge marginal returns when deciding whether to scale, hold or reduce spend.
- Practise explaining the limits of common attribution approaches to a senior non-specialist.
- Choose an experiment that produced an unexpected result and explain how it changed later activity.
- Think through how you would audit tracking, lead quality and conversion data after joining a new team.
Common mistakes
- Reporting platform metrics without connecting them to customer quality or commercial value.
- Treating attribution figures as certain when the underlying tracking has gaps.
- Scaling spend without considering audience saturation, creative fatigue or the wider customer journey.
- Talking only about personal execution when the role requires leadership and clear budget decisions.
