About the audition
A pageant Q&A round tests how you think and speak under pressure in front of judges and an audience. Judges look at your advocacy cause, how clearly you answer, your poise, the impact you have had in your community and how you would represent the title.
How to prepare
- Know your advocacy cause deeply, including the facts, your work so far and your plans.
- Practise short answers of 30 to 45 seconds with a clear point and a strong close.
- Follow current affairs so an unexpected topic does not catch you off guard.
- Practise pausing briefly before answering to gather your thoughts.
- Rehearse in your outfit and shoes so you are comfortable on stage.
Common mistakes
- Giving a memorised answer that does not fit the question asked.
- Speaking in big words without a clear point.
- Choosing a cause you cannot show any real work on.
