About the role
This is an evidence-led policy interview focused on economic choices, trade-offs and delivery. The panel is assessing whether you can move from a loosely defined problem to a practical recommendation, explain uncertainty and recognise who may gain or lose from each option.
How to prepare
- Choose a policy problem and practise setting out the baseline, objectives, options and evaluation criteria.
- Review how you have used administrative data, surveys or economic research in a recommendation.
- Prepare an example where stakeholder evidence changed your initial view.
- Practise explaining an economic trade-off without technical jargon.
Common mistakes
- Jumping to a solution before defining the policy problem and baseline.
- Treating correlation as proof that an intervention caused an outcome.
- Ignoring distributional effects, administrative capacity or implementation incentives.
