About the role
This interview tests how you support construction quality checks from delivery of materials through completed work. The panel wants careful observation, reliable records and the confidence to raise defects without creating unnecessary conflict on site.
How to prepare
- Review how drawings, specifications, method statements and approved samples guide an inspection.
- Revise basic checks for concrete, reinforcement, blockwork and finishes.
- Prepare an example of finding an error and recording it clearly.
- Practise explaining how a defect moves from identification to corrective action and closure.
- Think through how you would refuse pressure to approve work you have not inspected.
Common mistakes
- Treating inspection as a visual glance without referring to drawings or specifications.
- Signing records without evidence that the work was checked.
- Raising a defect without recording its location, requirement and follow-up action.
