About the role
This interview tests how you generate trustworthy laboratory results for raw materials, in-process samples and finished products. The panel will look for careful technique, control of instruments and standards, and disciplined treatment of unexpected results. Your decisions should protect both the data and the batch disposition process.
How to prepare
- Revise the analytical methods you use most often and the purpose of their system suitability checks.
- Prepare to explain sample preparation, calculations and good documentation from start to finish.
- Review how you respond to an out-of-specification or atypical result without assuming laboratory error.
- Think of an instrument problem you diagnosed and how you showed that the final result was reliable.
- Practise discussing workload priorities when release and stability samples compete for limited equipment.
Common mistakes
- Jumping straight to a retest when a result is outside specification.
- Listing instruments without explaining system suitability or method controls.
- Treating transcription from temporary notes as acceptable laboratory practice.
- Forgetting to secure samples, solutions and electronic data during an investigation.
