About the role

This interview covers routine quality control work in a food factory, including sampling, testing, hygiene and batch decisions. The panel wants careful technique, trustworthy records and the confidence to hold a product when a result or process may put quality at risk.

How to prepare

  1. Review representative sampling, sample labelling, contamination prevention and safe laboratory practice.
  2. Revise routine food checks relevant to your training and be ready to explain the method and result clearly.
  3. Prepare an example of detecting an unusual result and checking whether the test or sample caused it.
  4. Review why records must be complete, timely, legible and traceable.

Common mistakes

  • Agreeing to release a batch before an abnormal result has been resolved through the approved process.
  • Describing testing without explaining how you prevent sample contamination or mix-ups.
  • Recreating a missing record from memory without clearly marking and reporting the correction.
