About the role
This interview examines how you combine imperfect subsurface and production data to support development decisions. The panel is looking for disciplined uncertainty handling, physically credible models and clear recommendations on wells, depletion and surveillance rather than software operation alone.
How to prepare
- Review material balance, decline behaviour, pressure support and recovery mechanisms.
- Prepare a history-matching example where several parameter combinations appeared plausible.
- Practise explaining low, central and high cases without presenting uncertainty as false precision.
- Choose a surveillance result that changed your reservoir interpretation or forecast.
- Be ready to connect a subsurface conclusion to an investment or operating decision.
Common mistakes
- Presenting a history match as unique when several geological explanations remain possible.
- Giving a single forecast without stating assumptions, constraints and uncertainty.
- Relying on simulation output without checking material balance and physical behaviour.
- Discussing technical detail without stating the decision it informed.
