About the role

This interview focuses on the balance between personal styling, customer care and retail sales. The panel will assess whether you can read a customer's needs, explain fit and product choices clearly, suggest complete looks naturally and maintain standards when the shop is busy.

How to prepare

  1. Practise asking open questions about occasion, comfort, fit, personal style and budget.
  2. Review how fabric, cut, colour and proportion affect the way an outfit works.
  3. Prepare an example of increasing a sale through a genuinely useful recommendation.
  4. Think through how you recover service when a size, colour or promised item is unavailable.
  5. Study the employer's product range and prepare a few styling combinations from it.

Common mistakes

  • Recommending what you personally like before understanding the customer.
  • Pushing extra items that do not improve the outfit or meet the stated budget.
  • Making personal comments about a customer's body instead of discussing garment fit.
  • Ignoring floor presentation and colleagues while focusing on one styling session.
