About the audition
A screen action role audition combines character work with a supervised movement or combat assessment. The team is looking for clear acting, controlled and repeatable choreography, camera awareness, honest communication about experience and consistent safety judgement.
How to prepare
- Read the scene for objectives and turning points before concentrating on the physical sequence.
- Review your movement training honestly and decide how to describe its limits as well as its strengths.
- Practise learning short movement phrases in counts and repeating the same marks and eyelines.
- Warm up appropriately without attempting new stunts or combat techniques on your own.
- Listen for the agreed stop signal and confirm how to raise a safety concern during the session.
Common mistakes
- Exaggerating combat or stunt experience to appear more capable.
- Adding unscripted contact or speed to make the sequence look impressive.
- Focusing on the moves so completely that the character disappears.
- Continuing after a missed cue, unsafe distance or changed surface.
