About the role
This interview covers ownership of a digital lending product from customer discovery through repayment performance. The panel is looking for strong product craft, a practical understanding of lending risk and evidence that you can align credit, compliance, operations and engineering. Expect to discuss trade-offs where growth, customer outcomes and portfolio quality pull in different directions.
How to prepare
- Map a typical lending journey from eligibility and application through disbursement, repayment and collections.
- Prepare an example of using customer research and product data to change a lending decision.
- Revise the relationship between approval, conversion, disbursement, delinquency and repeat borrowing metrics.
- Practise explaining a prioritisation decision that involved product value, technical effort and credit risk.
- Think through how you would test changes responsibly when a poor experiment could harm borrowers.
Common mistakes
- Treating loan conversion as success without discussing repayment quality or customer outcomes.
- Proposing features before showing how you would understand the borrower problem.
- Describing credit and compliance as approval gates instead of product partners.
- Using experiment results without checking segment differences or unintended harm.
