About the role
This interview is for an experienced quality engineer who works inside the manufacturing process, not only at final inspection. The panel is assessing whether you can trust the measurement system, interpret variation, solve difficult defects and influence engineering changes with clear evidence.
How to prepare
- Revise control charts, capability concepts, sampling choices and the assumptions behind each method.
- Prepare a defect investigation where the first suspected cause was not the true cause.
- Think through how you assess repeatability, reproducibility and bias in a measurement process.
- Review the quality evidence needed before approving a material, tooling or process change.
- Be ready to explain a technical quality signal in language that operators can act on.
Common mistakes
- Treating every point within specification as proof that a process is stable and capable.
- Blaming the process before establishing that the measurement system can distinguish real variation.
- Choosing a root cause by opinion and then checking only whether assigned tasks were completed.
- Approving a change from drawing compliance alone without considering process interaction and validation.
