About the award
A STEM scholarship for women interview selects students in science, technology, engineering or maths who show strong ability and drive. The panel looks at your academic strength, what you want to build or solve, the initiative you have taken outside class, how you lift others in your community, and how clearly you explain technical ideas.
How to prepare
- Choose one technical project or topic and practise explaining it to someone outside your field.
- Prepare an example of initiative, such as starting a study group, a coding club or a small build.
- Be specific about the problem you want to work on, ideally one you have seen in your own community.
- Know your grades in your core subjects and be ready to talk about what you are best at.
Common mistakes
- Using heavy jargon to impress instead of explaining clearly.
- Underselling your achievements by giving all the credit to others.
- Describing goals so broadly that the panel cannot see a clear path.
