About the award
This fellowship interview assesses whether you can grow into an effective classroom teacher and a leader committed to pupil learning. The panel looks for clear thinking about lessons, calm behaviour management, inclusive expectations, resilience and willingness to work with families and colleagues.
How to prepare
- Read the programme's official guidance for current eligibility, placement expectations and selection activities.
- Prepare a simple lesson with a clear objective, an activity and a quick check for understanding.
- Review practical ways to establish routines and correct behaviour without humiliating a pupil.
- Develop examples that show leadership, perseverance, feedback and work with a community.
- Practise explaining how you would adapt a lesson when resources, electricity or connectivity are limited.
Common mistakes
- Talking about inspiring pupils without explaining how you will check what they learned.
- Treating punishment as the main way to manage classroom behaviour.
- Assuming every pupil has the same prior knowledge or home resources.
- Presenting the fellowship as a temporary activity rather than a serious service commitment.
