About the award
This fellowship interview assesses applicants who can connect technical realities with public policy choices. The panel wants clear problem definition, balanced evidence, awareness of who gains or loses and recommendations that can be implemented and reviewed.
How to prepare
- Write a one-page map of a technology policy problem, including causes, affected groups and current rules.
- Compare at least two policy options using evidence, feasibility, rights and distributional effects.
- Practise explaining a technical concept in plain language without removing the important limitations.
- Identify stakeholders whose interests are often overlooked in digital policy discussions.
- Check the programme's official information for current eligibility, focus areas and application requirements.
Common mistakes
- Treating technology as either entirely harmful or automatically beneficial.
- Recommending regulation without considering enforcement capacity or unintended effects.
- Using technical terms when a clear explanation would better show your understanding.
