About the role
A telecoms engineering internship gives you supervised exposure to networks, radio, transmission, fibre, power or support work. Interviewers do not expect deep field experience, but they do want sound fundamentals, curiosity, safe behaviour and a structured way of learning from practical tasks.
How to prepare
- Revise basic communications, electronics and networking concepts from your coursework.
- Choose one practical, laboratory or personal technical task and explain what you tested and learned.
- Practise drawing a simple end-to-end path for a call or data session.
- Prepare an example of receiving feedback and applying it to improve your work.
- Review basic electrical, equipment and field safety principles for supervised engineering work.
Common mistakes
- Trying to bluff through a technical question instead of stating assumptions and reasoning.
- Describing a group task without making your own contribution clear.
- Treating safety procedures as something only experienced engineers need to consider.
- Listing course topics without showing how you applied any of them.
