About the role
This interview covers the practical engineering of injection moulds from trial through routine production. The panel is looking for someone who can diagnose part defects, protect tools through planned care, review design changes and coordinate safe releases with production and quality.
How to prepare
- Revise common moulding defects and how tooling, resin and process settings can each cause them.
- Prepare a clear example of a mould repair or modification you owned.
- Review cooling, venting, gating, ejection, shrinkage and tolerance fundamentals.
- Practise describing a tool trial and the evidence needed before production approval.
Common mistakes
- Changing several process settings at once and losing the cause of the defect.
- Focusing on cosmetic quality while overlooking tool damage and operator safety.
- Claiming tooling improvements without comparing scrap, stoppages or part measurements.
