About the role
This interview tests whether you can turn a WASH assessment into a safe, accountable and deliverable programme. The panel will look for technical judgement, firm management of budgets and contractors, and evidence that communities shape how services are designed and maintained.
How to prepare
- Review how you prioritise water supply, sanitation and hygiene activities after an assessment.
- Prepare an example of a design, construction or water quality problem you helped resolve.
- Think through how you monitor contractors, expenditure, outputs and public health risks together.
- Prepare a case where community feedback changed a location, design or delivery method.
- Be ready to explain how you develop staff and coordinate specialist partners.
Common mistakes
- Treating infrastructure completion as proof that people can use services safely.
- Ignoring operation, maintenance and community ownership after construction.
- Giving technical answers without explaining cost, access or safeguarding trade-offs.
