About the role
This interview tests whether you can turn evidence into a realistic route to policy change. The panel will look for sound political judgement, careful stakeholder mapping, persuasive communication and respect for the organisation's neutrality and the voices of affected communities.
How to prepare
- Choose one advocacy objective and map the decision, the people who influence it and the evidence each audience needs.
- Prepare an example of coalition work where members disagreed on priorities or language.
- Review how you have checked claims and protected the credibility of policy messages.
- Practise explaining a technical recommendation in plain language without overstating the evidence.
Common mistakes
- Describing awareness activities without linking them to a decision or policy objective.
- Treating access to senior officials as a substitute for evidence and community legitimacy.
- Claiming a policy result without distinguishing your contribution from that of the coalition.
