About the role
This interview explores how you move from evidence to a realistic policy change strategy. The panel is looking for sharp analysis, ethical use of people's experiences, disciplined stakeholder engagement and calm judgement about public and private influence.
How to prepare
- Prepare a policy recommendation you developed and explain the evidence and implementation constraints behind it.
- Review how you map formal authority, informal influence, allies, opponents and decision points.
- Think of a message you changed because evidence or stakeholder feedback challenged the first version.
- Prepare an example of managing disagreement within a coalition.
- Be ready to discuss advocacy risk, consent and responsible representation.
Common mistakes
- Treating media attention as the objective instead of a route to a defined decision.
- Overstating evidence or using personal stories without meaningful consent.
- Naming stakeholders without explaining their interests, influence or likely response.
