About the role
An assistant project manager supports the controlled delivery of construction work from planning through close-out. The panel is assessing your grasp of programme, cost, scope, risk and change, as well as whether you communicate decisions clearly and take reliable ownership of assigned actions.
How to prepare
- Review the relationship between project scope, programme, cost, quality and change control.
- Prepare a project example in which you tracked actions or solved a delivery problem.
- Practise explaining a risk with its cause, likely effect, response and owner.
- Think through how site progress evidence becomes a concise client update.
- Review how requests for additional work should be recorded before approval.
Common mistakes
- Treating every request as approved work before its impact is assessed.
- Listing project management terms without showing how you would use them.
- Waiting for complete certainty before raising a serious emerging risk.
- Taking credit for a team result without defining your own responsibility.
