About the role
A junior auto electrician helps find and repair faults in vehicle starting, charging, lighting and control circuits. The panel wants a logical testing method, safe handling of electrical systems and accurate reporting. Good answers use evidence from checks and readings rather than guessing which component has failed.
How to prepare
- Revise voltage, current, resistance, continuity and the purpose of fuses and relays.
- Practise describing how you would test a simple starting or lighting circuit.
- Review safe battery isolation and how to avoid short circuits or damaged electronics.
- Prepare an example of finding a fault by testing one possibility at a time.
- Refresh how to read basic wiring diagrams and record meter readings.
Common mistakes
- Replacing a battery, fuse or sensor without testing the circuit.
- Probing wires or disconnecting components without considering safety.
- Giving readings without explaining what they indicate.
