About the role
This interview tests whether you can lead the contracting function while keeping advice practical for the business. The panel is looking for strong drafting, proportionate risk decisions, reliable controls and confident leadership of lawyers and commercial stakeholders.
How to prepare
- Choose two complex negotiations and explain the clauses, trade-offs and final outcome clearly.
- Review how limitation of liability, indemnities, warranties, termination and dispute clauses allocate risk.
- Prepare an example of improving a contract approval or obligation tracking process.
- Practise explaining a difficult contract risk to a commercial leader in plain language.
- Be ready to describe how you review junior lawyers' work and improve drafting quality.

- Treating every unfavourable clause as a reason to stop the deal.
- Reciting contract law without giving a clear commercial recommendation.
