About the role
A UX researcher helps a product team understand the people it builds for. You plan studies, run interviews and usability tests, analyse what you hear and see, and turn findings into clear recommendations the team acts on. The panel is checking your method, your neutrality with participants and your ability to change product decisions.
How to prepare
- Prepare one study end to end: the research question, method, recruitment, key findings and what changed in the product.
- Practise explaining why you chose a method and what you would do differently with more time or budget.
- Think about recruiting and running research in the field, such as with traders, drivers or users on basic phones.
- Have an example of findings the team did not want to hear and how you presented them.
- Revise how you avoid leading participants and how you turn raw notes into themes.
Common mistakes
- Presenting long lists of findings with no clear recommendations.
- Only describing interviews when the panel wants to see a range of methods.
- Failing to show any product decision your research changed.
