About the programme
An A-level admission interview helps a school or college decide whether you are ready for two years of focused study. The panel looks at your subject choices, how they link to your plans, your study habits and whether you can work on your own, since A-levels need more independent study than earlier exams.
How to prepare
- Be ready to explain why you chose each of your A-level subjects.
- Think about how the subjects connect to the course or career you are aiming for.
- Prepare examples of how you study on your own and keep up when no one is checking.
- Read a little beyond the syllabus in one of your chosen subjects.
- Review your recent results and be honest about any weak areas.
Common mistakes
- Choosing subjects because friends did without a reason of your own.
- Having no idea how the subjects link to your plans.
- Underestimating how much independent study A-levels need.
