About the role
This interview examines how you monitor a process plant and respond when variables move outside their normal range. The panel wants practical process reasoning, respect for procedures and calm communication between the control room, field and supervision.
How to prepare
- Revise the functions of separators, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers and control valves.
- Practise explaining how pressure, temperature, level and flow can influence one another.
- Review the purpose of start-up checks, permissives, trips and emergency shutdown systems.
- Prepare an example of managing several signals or tasks without losing accuracy.
- Practise distinguishing an instrument fault from a real process change using related readings.
Common mistakes
- Responding to the loudest alarm without considering which condition threatens people or equipment first.
- Changing several controls at once and making the effect difficult to understand.
- Skipping a start-up check because the equipment ran normally on the previous shift.
